So Bob Woodward wrote a book. In this book, among other things, Donald Trump admits that he was well aware of the severity of COVID-19, but didn’t want to spread panic. He also denies wealthy white privilege, accusing Woodward of having drunk the Kool-Aid. There’s other fluff about how Kim Jong-Un flattered him. And I would assume, there is more that I have not learned about because I haven’t actually read the book, but am relying on a Washington Post account. Read more

I guess I’m remembering the Jeni’s Ice Cream video debacle, in which Nancy Pelosi, apparently appearing on the Late, Late Show, took solace from the pandemic lockdown in an apparently very expensive brand of ice cream which is not local to San Francisco, in front of two very expensive and well-stocked freezers while people were going hungry, lining up at food banks. Pennsylvania’s eviction protections for those who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic have run out, so courts may now hear eviction cases:
[Matthew] Rich said it may take awhile for all the backlogged eviction cases to work their way through the courts. But some of the earliest cases could land people on the street starting in late September or early October, Rich said.
A broken rental assistance program, which, of course, the legislature has not fixed, has been little help. Read more
