If there is any doubt as to the pervasiveness of domestic spying in this country, it should now be put to rest after, according to SFGate, “a former agent for the U.S. Commerce Department was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on charges that he used a government database to track the travels of a former girlfriend.” The issue here isn’t that “the system works” because this agent has now been indicted but that the system accumulates data which could be abused in this way.
